Introduction to DaVinci Resolve

This course is for new users of Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve. It is designed for those people who wish to learn video editing in this premium level video editing and color grading application.

Day 1:

  • Overview of the Resolve UI
  • Creating, importing and managing projects
  • Configuring important project settings
  • Importing, organising, sorting and searching media/metadata
  • Bins, Smart Bins & Power Bins
  • Selecting which parts of the media to use
  • Subclips
  • Creating timelines
  • Building rough-cuts

Day 2:

  • Optimising Resolves performance
  • Refining your edit with the editing tools
  • Putting clips in motion
  • Multicam editing
  • Pan and Scan with Dynamic Zoom

Day 3:

  • Importing timelines from other applications (Conforming)
  • Creating titles
  • Transitions
  • Playing with time
  • Working with Audio
  • Archiving your projects and backing up your work
  • Export options
  • A brief look at the color page
  • Overview of premium features not in the free version
  • Preperation to DaVinci Resolve User Certificate Exam

At the end of course, we offer to take official DaVinci Resolve exam.

Color Grading with DaVinci Resolve 

This course is for new users of Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve. It is designed for those people who wish to learn colour grading in this premium level video editing and colour grading application.

Day 1:

  • Importing and linking projects – conforming
  • Scene cut detection
  • A brief look at the edit page
  • Filtering your timelines – metadata
  • Color management options
  • What environment and equipment do you need to produce a consistent grade?
  • Optimising Resolves performance
  • Balancing your shots with primary tools
  • Understanding the video scopes
Day 2:
  • Understanding and using ‘nodes’
  • Creating and using ‘versions’
  • Creating and using ‘stills’
  • Understanding how ‘shot match’ works and when to use it
  • PowerGrades
  • Lightbox
  • Blur and Sharpen
  • Creative Black & White
  • Secondary grading – Qualifiers

Day 3:

  • Power windows
  • Tracking – cloud, point, FX, Clip & Frame
  • Resolve FX
  • Burn-ins

  • Preperation to DaVinci Resolve User Certificate Exam
At the end of course, we offer to take official DaVinci Resolve exam.

Meet the Instructor

Born in Bursa in 1988. He shot his first short film at Balıkesir Fen Lisesi, where he attended high school. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2011. In 2015, he completed his Master’s degree in Cinema-TV at Kadir Has University on a scholarship. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Radio-TV and Cinema at Istanbul University. He is married and a father of one daughter.

One of the awards he received for his short films led to a scholarship at Sinematek, where he taught Editing/Montage and Film Production and Directing from 2006 to 2014. He served as the Chairman of the Board at the same institution from 2010 onwards. He has made more than 10 short films since 2005, receiving over 70 screenings and more than 20 awards. He continues to shoot, edit, and perform color grading for films, short films, music videos, documentaries, and promotional films. He is a Certified DaVinci Resolve Trainer.

He continues to work as an instructor, director, editor, and colorist at “SinePlus Academy&Post&Production,” which he founded in 2013.

He teaches Post-Production classes at Acun Medya Academy.

He is employed as a part-time lecturer at Istanbul Arel University.
